SpaceX Updates

  • Dragon Flies Free After Successful Falcon 9 Launch
    September 21, 2014 - 3:48 AM EDT
The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft is flying free to begin its pursuit of the International Space Station. The spacecraft separated from the Falcon 9 rocket after a successful climb to orbit that began at 1:52 a.m. EDT with an on-time liftoff from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station's Launch Complex 40.
  • At 7:04 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Sept. 23, the Dragon spacecraft will catch up to the orbiting laboratory, and Expedition 41 Flight Engineer and European Space Agency Astronaut Alexander Gerst will use the station's 57.7-foot (17.6-meter) robotic arm to reach out and capture it. NASA Astronaut and Flight Engineer Reid Wiseman will support Gerst as they operate from the station’s cupola.

Tonight while I was doing chores I was able to capture a beautiful sunset!  The sunsets are really awesome most evenings and I am fortunate to live facing each and every one(East)!  I can't wait to see tomorrow's colors!

Island living is truly a great way to go, and I have lived on an island(in one way or another) pretty much all my life!  I enjoy the constant warm breezes and seaside life, the strange creatures that can inhabit this special place, and the culture that is something all its own,  Finding treasures along the coast or picking them up at local shops can yield a beachcombers dream in adding to a collection, with some of the items not being available except once in a blue moon!

We found these both along the coast as well as in local shops that deal with these treasures.

Sometimes it take a long time to locate one of the large floats, and, if it has the net wrapped on it, that is a great find!

2013 DAYS

Island Artwork is really quite interesting and I enjoy collecting the various and unusual handmade items when I go out on my travels.  At a local store we were able to find a Christmas ornament that we definitely use every year!

Seashells on the seashore

Treasures from the sea!

Items such as fishing floats, shells, are often found along the shore.  The bounty brought by storms can yield a bounty for a collector!

Usually collected on the Eastern side of the island.where the tides and currents bring some of these treasures from far out at sea.

Backyard Beauty

Makes it easier when coming home after a long day!

Taken from my backyard one evening after work.

It's view like this that make the end of the day worthwhile!
